Reservations

Your name, telephone number, email address, party size, booking date and time, plus any notes you give us — dietary requirements, allergies, accessibility needs or the occasion. Bookings made through this website are taken by ResDiary, which processes them on our behalf.

Enquiries

If you email or call us — for example about a large party — we hold what you send us and our reply.

Payments

Card payments are handled by our payment providers. We do not store full card numbers. Where a booking requires card details to secure it, those are held by the booking or payment provider, not by us.

Website use

Basic technical information such as your IP address, browser and the pages you view, used to keep the site working and secure.

CCTV

Why we use it, and on what basis

We use your information to take and manage your reservation, to contact you about it, to cater for allergies and dietary needs, to take payment, to answer enquiries, and to run and secure the restaurant and this website.

Our lawful bases are the performance of our contract with you (your booking), our legitimate interests in running the business, and your consent where we ask for it — for example for marketing emails. Information about allergies and health-related dietary needs is handled only so far as necessary to serve you safely.

Marketing

We will only send you marketing where you have asked to receive it, or where the law otherwise allows it. Every marketing message includes an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out at any time by emailing info@elifcastlest.co.uk.

Who we share it with

We share personal data only with providers who help us run the restaurant, and only so far as they need it. These include our reservations provider (ResDiary), our payment providers, our email and IT providers, and our website host. Each acts under contract and may not use your data for their own purposes.

We may also disclose information where we are required to by law, or to establish or defend legal claims.

How long we keep it

Reservation records are kept for [to be confirmed — retention period]. Correspondence is kept for as long as needed to deal with the matter and for a reasonable period afterwards. Accounting records are kept for six years as required by tax law. Marketing consents are kept until you withdraw them.

Your rights

Cookies and similar technologies

Cookies are small files placed on your device when you visit a website. Similar technologies, such as local storage, work in much the same way. This section explains which are used here, and on what basis.

What this site uses

Strictly necessary and functional. Our own pages set no cookies. We do use your browser's local storage for one thing: to remember that you have dismissed the House Rules notice, so it is not shown to you again. That is a preference you choose, and it stays on your device — it is never sent to us.

Analytics. We do not use any. No visitor statistics are collected, and there is no Google Analytics or equivalent on this site.

Marketing and advertising. We do not use any. Nothing here tracks you across other websites or builds an advertising profile.

Third-party services

Two parts of this site are provided by other companies, and they may set their own cookies when they load. We do not control what they set:

  • ResDiary, which runs our online booking — see the ResDiary privacy policy.
  • Google Maps, which serves the map on our Find Us page. The map does not load until you press “Show the map”, so nothing is sent to Google unless you ask for it — see how Google uses cookies.

These services may collect your IP address, browser and device information, and details of how you interact with them, in accordance with their own privacy policies.

Your choices

Because we set no analytics or marketing cookies of our own, this site does not show a cookie consent banner. The one third-party element that would otherwise load without asking — the Google map — is held back behind a button instead. You can still control or delete cookies through your browser settings at any time, and you can clear the House Rules preference by clearing this site's data. Blocking cookies may stop the booking form or the map from working.

The legal basis

We use cookies and similar technologies in line with the UK GDPR and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations. Strictly necessary storage needs no consent. Anything beyond that would only be used with your consent, and if that changes this policy and the site will be updated first.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. Any change will be posted on this page. This version is dated April 2026.
